Opening for Ph.D. Students in Geomicrobiology
The NanoGeoBio Laboratory (https://nanogeobio.info) in the department of Geological Sciences at the University of Texas at El Paso have immediate opening for Ph.D. students to investigate the relationship of several major microbial communities and sulfate minerals in gypsum deserts. There will be two major field sites: one is based in the White Sands National monument, and the other is based in the Death Valley National Park. Suitable candidates are expected to have a strong background in any of the following areas: (geo)microbiology / low-temperature (bio)geochemistry / environmental mineralogy / biochemistry / biology / chemistry.
