If you are working with Earth and environmental samples as a researcher,
educator, curator, data manager, software developer or architect, or as
a publisher, please join us at an information and discussion forum on
Sunday, December 10th, 3:30pm CT, at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside
(Jackson Room).

This forum is organized jointly by the IGSN e.V. (International Geo
Sample Number Implementation Organization) and the System for Earth
Sample Registration (SESAR), as an opportunity for you to:

  * learn about the IGSN (International Geo Sample Number) and its
application to unambiguously link samples with digital data and
  * learn about the IGSN e.V. organization and SESAR and how both
support digital and physical sample management, sample citation in
    publications, sample discovery, and more,
  * tell us about the challenges you encounter with your sample
collections, their curation, documentation, and preservation,
  * find out how to become a user of the IGSN or member of the IGSN e.V.,
  * check out tools that SESAR offers to help you manage your samples.

Please let us know if you are planning to attend (RSVP by email to
mcarter at ldeo.columbia.edu <mailto:mcarter at ldeo.columbia.edu>) or simply
stop by any time between 3:30 pm and 5:00 pm.

The IGSN is a globally unique and persistent identifier for samples and
related sampling features that enables unambiguous identification in the
lab and in the literature. You can find out more about the IGSN at
www.igsn.org <http://www.igsn.org/> and www.geosamples.org
