As I understand it, the REE are the lanthanides plus Y and Sc. So, for example, referring to REE + Y is redundant because Y *is* a REE.
I’ve been trying to refer to lanthanides when I mean lanthanides, and REE when I mean lanthanides plus Y (I hardly ever do anything with Sc, BTW; poor Sc...).
