all my apologies for cross-postings and please advertise to qualified young scientists.
The Earth and Planetary Science Laboratory at Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (Switzerland) seeks applicants for a postdoctoral fellowship in experimental petrology under extreme conditions, supported by a collaborative project (EPFL and IPGP) revolving around the experimental determination of elemental fractionation between Earth’s lower mantle phases.
Experience with laser-heated diamond anvil cell experiments, FIB samples recovery, SEM/Microprobe micro-analysis, or TEM characterization is preferred.
Good knowledge of thermodynamics and thermodynamical modeling is a definite plus.
This collaborative project involves travel and time sharing between the two collaborating nodes at (1) EPFL’s Earth and Planetary Science Laboratory in Lausanne, Switzerland, and (2) IPGP’s Cosmochemistry, Astrophysics, and Experimental Geophysics group in Paris, France.
The initial appointment is for one year, renewable up to 2 times contingent on progress and scientific success.
Applications must be received by March 15, 2018; applications received after this date may be considered if the position is not filled.
Please send a CV/resume and the names of a couple references to James Badro (james.badro at epfl.ch<mailto:bjames.badro at epfl.ch>).
